By the end of the year 2012, the whole of the UK will switch over to the digital signal, and the old analogue signal will be switched off. However, many area’s are already benefiting from the new digital tv signal, and have a greater choice of tv channels and improved reception!

What is the Digital Switchover?
The Digital Switchover will provide most households fantastic digital television, and as the digital requires less broadcasting space as opposed to analogue, there will be much more room for further services, such as interactive TV, more channels and even HDTV!

These services are already available on the Freeview TV system, and even with similar systems such as Sky Digital and the new BBC Freesat satellite service. However, when the analogue signal is finally switched off, there will be more channels and a greater choice of interactive services available on Freeview than there is currently.

And for most households who do not wish to have a satellite dish installed on their property, or are not allowed due to conservation or building regulations, the Freeview service can be received by a digital compatible tv aerial.

How can I be ready for the Digital Switchover?
Providing you have a modern digital television with either a built in or separate Freeview receiver, you will still be able to receive digital tv channels after the switchover in your area. Please note, you will also need the installation of a digital tv aerial at your property to receive the broadcasted signals from your local transmitter.

But why wait for the digital switchover when you can already enhance your viewing experience with either Freeview, BBC Freesat or Sky Digital which are available right now to most of the UK population?
